As an attorney, she has represented health care providers in malpractice and licensing actions for over two decades. She has also served as a Municipal Court Judge Pro Tem.  She is currently in private practice and handles various medical/legal matters including  representation of  nurses in disciplinary actions before the California BRN. She is a frequent lecturer and consultant on medical-legal issues, and practices on a statewide basis. She has taught a wide variety of legal courses, including the paralegal program at the University of Washington.  
 
Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Elston worked as a registered nurse at a large acute care medical center for nearly seven years, including serving as assistant head nurse. 

Ms. Elston is licensed as an attorney in both the State of California and Washington State (inactive). She is also licensed as a registered nurse in both states.
