The California Nursing Law Center is now offering two legal courses to nurses: California Nursing Law 2010 and the Legal Nurse Consultant (LNC) program.

These courses are taught by Laurie R. Elston, B.S.N., J.D., a Nurse Attorney, with over 20 years of legal experience.  She represented health care providers in medical malpractice lawsuits and disciplinary proceedings for over a decade, and is an experienced civil litigation attorney.  She has also served as a Municipal Court Judge Pro Tem. In addition, she taught in the paralegal program at the University of Washington. She has also been teaching California law to nurses for years, and recently edited a resource book for Legal Nurse Consultants. Ms. Elston is an approved continuing education provider (#12696) by the California Board of Registered Nursing, and both courses qualify for CE credits.

Whether you are a practicing nurse or you want to become a Legal Nurse Consultant (LNC), it is essential that you understand the state law in which you practice.  For LNCs knowledge of California law means you will have the strategic ability to be a part of a litigation team in California.  If you want to practice in California, you need to be taught by someone who knows California law.  This program also will teach you all the concepts necessary to pass national LNC certification examination.
